Books For The University project update
Saturday, November 11, 2006
A professor in the College of Education, Arkansas state university, Dan Cline wrote his colleagues and raised books for the project. I received a total of 27 books in different fields (From Art to psychology to Engineering) few days ago..
This is a photo of the books (click to enlarge):

This has been a very good step in the project, though not in Environmental engineering. Any book that can be used and benefited from are more than appreciated by both the students and teachers who read them.
A big thank-you to Dan, who has been, and still is a big help in the project, and a good friend..
The package arrived after a month of its shipment, in two very heavy boxes, sealed and unopened at the post office like the previous packages I've received. This proved that mail in Iraq is really working and isn't being stolen at the post office.
I am awaiting a package on Sunday, not sure what it is.. I only know it's from New jersey.

I'm glad to see you are getting a response. I hope you can get more.
To Dan (who I know will be reading this): This was a truly admirable gesture. You and the students who helped you with it should be proud of yourselves.
Through your selfless actions, you truly exemplify what people would call "American Values". By demonstrating these values to Najma and the good people at Mosul University, you and the others who helped you have shown that some Americans really do care about Iraq.
As another person who cares about what is going on in Iraq: thank you!

Environmental Engineering is a good
choice as with Iraqs oil industry
and the Tigres and Euphrates
Environmental engineers will
be needed.
Does Mosul University need
Mathematics texts eg
Calculus
Differential Equations
Linear Algebra
etc. ??

mad canuck...
Thank you so much for your kind words. My students have been wonderful helping with this effort. Two of them are International students and so have sort of taken charge of things.
I had to fugure out shipping arrangements on my own, which isn't simple for a war zone. But things are working now.
I like to think it's not just some Americans, but most Americans who care about the Iraqi people. But I am a professor, and the books for the university has a lot of meaning for me. But to me, Najma is special anyway.
Again, thank you for your words. I hope others join in to help the libraries at the University of Mosul.

Hey, this is good news! I'm glad that the Mosul University Library is getting some new volumes.
Just wondering if there's a way of checking when to expect a package by the Iraqi mail system?
I sent a message to the Water Environment Federation regarding your request. They are listed as the author of one of the books on your wishlist. Perhaps they will be able to help!
Though I am new to your site, I will try to purchase a book off your wishlist for you.

Would your family let you travel to england for a summer job somewhere?
