What's happening?

I finished my finals last Thursday.. Finally finished the third year at college. I can confidently say that this has been a really bad year for me, only education-wise. I had my disagreements with my lecturers and had no confidence in most of what they say. There was a big gap between me and my books, and me and my lecturers.. and the more I tried to fill the gap between me and either, it would grow larger with the other.

It was a big challenge to deal with this whole thing and I still haven't really found a solution.
Now I'm just glad it's over.. and I don't even want to see the results of the struggle.

****

A project called Waedoun (translates to The Promising), the superior students care project, is being done in Iraq to care for the superior students in Iraqi universities.
A week ago I received my Waedoun ID and a credit card that I can use to draw my salary! I actually have a salary now :) and a CREDIT CARD.. IN IRAQ! The project has more things planned, but they're still at the beginning. It's a promising start.

****

In less that two weeks, we're going to go to Saudi Arabia! My parents, HNK and I are going to do Al-Umrah inshallah. This is going to be really exciting. This time I'm not going to ask you to pray for me, but rather it would be me praying for you! :D

I'll try to write again before I leave inshallah.

Good to hear from you
Hello... I'm new to your blog and I look forward to visiting here again.

congratulations and best wishes

Congratulations Najma on finishing your third year of college!

I don't understand what you are saying about disagreeing with your books and lecturers. Do you think they are wrong, or are you not enjoying what you are studying? I always had pretty good rapport with my books and teachers in college, because I was studying what was interesting to me, at least most of the time. ;)

The Waedoun project sounds interesting. I assume it is a government funded project? It sounds like the project is an effort to get the best and brightest Iraqi students to stay in Iraq to help rebuild the country. Perhaps the project and the salary will help you to study harder next year. :)

I wish you, Hnk, and your parents a good trip to Saudi Arabia! I read about Al-Umrah. I did not know that Islam teaches that Abraham and his wife visited Mecca.
My very best wishes to you in all your travels. The trip to Saudiland sounds very exciting. Perhaps you can find time to offer a prayer for a good man in Chicago who has fought a long and courageous fight against kidney cancer and another in Mosul who I am told is doing the same; I am sure god will know their names.
Congratulations on your accomplishment. I've never posted or said anything on here, but I used to read your blog all the time back in 04-05. I haven't been here since 05 for whatever reason. I came across a piece of paper where I had written all of my bookmarks from my old computer and came across astarfrommosul. Seeing that put a smile on my face. I remember reading back then about how it was hard/scary to go to school because of all the killing and now I happy to read that you've finished your third year. I'm glad to see that you are still here and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Hi,

I am writing an article for Huffington Post on rejoicing in Iraq due to withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. I have few questions. Can you please answer my questions?

Thanks
Congratulation on going to Al-Umrah and congratulations on getting acknowledged by Waedoun!

Thank you (in advance) for your prayers for me. Please pray for the widows and orphans in Iraq and everywhere.

hello Najma,
i'm really happy for you for finishing the third class, and i thing you are looking for a good idea for the matter of your graduating project.
i finished the third class from mechanical engineering this year too , and I am confused about my project , I hope to hear ideas from you soon , with my best wishes
Khalid,
3 thanks to you + 1 for reading + 1 for being the watchful eye on the Iraqi blogsphere.

David,
My lectures and the books disagree on some aspects.. and that has led to me losing the joy of studying.
Waedoun is a non-governmental organization. I always study as hard as I can, but I feel more appreciated now. Having had the highest marks this year (like the past 2 years) I'm still going to benefit from the salary for the coming year :)
One thing about Mecca that I liked was meeting ALL KINDS of people, different colours, different languages, different flags, all coming for the same purpose.

Waldschrat,
I pray you have an easy, comfortable life my friend.. I feel for all the sick people in the world. I pray you have health and strength.

Marshall,
Thanks for visiting again :) Come again!

Anon,
I'm the most ignorant person about politics.. I'm sorry I can't help.

Dancewater,
Thanks..
What I prayed for the most was peace.. a peace lost long ago. And for the people of Iraq to stand up and change.. we need change!

Sandybelle,
Thanks dear..
So you should wear hijab.. dear it's an obligation in Islam so I think you should think about it if you cared enough about Islam to do Umrah..
I do hate weddings and parties.. Everybody is happy and I'm usually trying to disappear :D But I think I'm really going to like my own!

Ahmed,
I prayed for all the Muslims..

A. M. Mosul,
I'm just starting to think about my project.. my professor has some ideas and I have collected few from my uncle and will discuss them with the prof. I don't know about mechanics! But I do wish you luck!
Try to look for cool projects on Youtube, some people have GREAT ideas.
Sorry all for the late replies.. I'm a lazy person and I'm not proud about it!
Congratulations Najma on finishing your third year of college!
very nice...
Congrats Very Nice
